Peter's Day Two

Well, here's a little clip from Wednesday. We worked a half-day with the Wheaton Women's Soccer group. I abandoned my role as crew boss, running around and finding tools and supplies and generally being a sheep-dog. Aaron did most of that after the first hour. Then, I ended up joining Peter and some others with spreading gravel as a gound cover.

So, Kelly and Eric, Peter started the day laying paving stones. Big, heavy paving stones! And shoveling sand into a wheelbarrow and spreading it and did I say that the paving stones are big and heavy? Then I came along and decided the group doing this had too many folks and they were getting in each other's way and besides the gravel pile was blocking part of the path. So Peter and Caleb and Ndiaga and I starting spreading the gravel. Well, they shoveled and pushed wheelbarrows and did all the heavy stuff. I just used a garden rake to even it out. Peter, however, worked really hard!! Hard. :)

After eating lunch with the soccer team and collecting some dollars to exchange for them, Peter and I just took a taxi home. Exhausted.

OK, I was exhausted the rest of the day. Peter recovered quite nicely!

We got over to watch Jonathan play a soccer match at DA at 4PM. The ladies played at Ngor at the same time, so we had to choose. Both won their matches.

This was Peter's first trip across town. I suspect it was a bit of a sensory overload. You'll all have to ask him. Squezed into junky taxis through heavy traffic on city streets talking to mostly unknown and strange distant relatives in a third-world country. What an adventure!

Oh, I almost forgot, Kelly. The buiding in the background to the left in the video is the old dining hall for the orphange that your neighbor's "Uncle Mo" ran in the 70's. I'll try to get a larger view of the property so you can show them.
