Independence Day Celebration

Yesterday, we went to the Atlantic Club (former American Club) to an Independence Day celebration put on by the Embassy. It was just burgers and hot dogs and conversation by the pool. The new ambassador did read President Bush’s proclamation, but other than that it was very informal. In fact, the games and volleyball that were advertised never did happen. I think it was because so many were in at the bar watching the World Cup on the projection TV!

I thought the juxtaposition of red, white and blue with a palm tree and mango tree was classic. Jonathan certainly enjoyed the pool. Most of his friends are traveling at the moment, but thankfully one of his buddies was there. We got to see more folks than we expected from several different missions and I met the military attaché, Mark, and his family.
