A new administrator at the Phare

We had a couple house guests last night. When I went to Dakar Academy to play basketball in the afternoon, Jonathan went down to Karlin's house to play. Afterwards, the two of them came home to have a sleep over at our house. They even did well during the power outages. Electricity has been on and off a lot in the last few days.
Later in the evening, the new adminstrator for the conference center here joined us. The room he will be staying in for the next month wasn't quite ready, so he spent the night with us in our office/guest room. That was nice. He is a great guy.

Hervé had his first day, so Rodney and I spent some time with him going over the job description and all. But mostly he was with Lydia, learning from her. He will do well.
I'm suffering from a little intestinal distress. OK. Not so little, maybe, but I'm functioning. Anyway, I laid down for a nap today, but was woken up by the dog barking outside our bedroom window. I thought I heard something growl back and got up to look. There, just below me, was a three-foot long monitor lizard. I tried to get a photo, but all our attention spooked him. Boy, can those guys run fast. And he hopped up on the wall and slid under the chain-link fence very impressively!
Tomorrow, bright and early we head to the airport to pick up 21 folks from California. They are staying with us here at the Phare for 10 days to work on various projects. A lot of today was working on last minute details. I may not have much time for blogging in the next two weeks. We'll see.
