Busy Summer

Well, it's been a busy summer so far with teams and moving and now, the event we've been anticipating for so long: Anna and Frankie's coming to visit!

But we've been mostly living all of this and doing a very bad job of reporting on it!

The young Jacksons come in Wednesday morning at 5 AM and we brought them home to our new apartment in Ouakam. We have gotten out and around in the last few days, even up to the top of the the lighthouse hill after a lunch at Chez Fatou's on a gorgeous day.

Chez Fatou is on the beach just up the coast from the Phare. At low tide there are tidal pools to explore. Jonathan and Frankie and I waded around a bit. Jonathan managed to stun a small fish with a rock, only to have the little crabs swarm all over it and enjoy a free meal. We found a sea slug (?) the size of my fist that looked just like an illustration out of a children's book. It was a lovely day and a nice relaxing time by the ocean.

We've watched a few movies and played a few games and, best of all, had long conversations about life, both reminiscing about the past and sharing about our lives now. We've even continued to move some of the last bits from the apartment at the Phare. (Yes, our deadline disappeared and we've been procrastinating!) Anna has even sorted through the memory boxes, pulling out old school papers and stuffed animals. She'll take the best stuff back with her. There's not much room in this new apartment to store extra trunks! (Even so, Jonathan saved that tear-dropped wicker thing hanging from the ceiling in the photo. Argh!)

Tuesday we'll go to Saly, about an hour's drive south, for a few days at a beach house. A pool and A/C and no whisper from my conscience about work left to do in the office at the Phare! Thank you, Lord.
